It is up to scholars to study the legal effects of this recognition. A família é notadamente um instituto importante da sociedade e considera-se que foi um sujeito ativo para a sua formação. Sendo assim, necessitam ser positivadas e legisladas políticas públicas que visem sua proteção. As famílias multiparentais são novas estruturas de formação familiar decorrentes da evolução deste instituto tão importante dentro da sociedade, isto posto, devem ser amparadas e concedidos direitos que visem protegê-las. Em decisão do Supremo Tribunal Federal foi decidido o reconhecimento das famílias multiparentais, concedendo todos os direitos de reconhecimento de filiação aos pais e filhos formadores deste núcleo, com ou sem registro formal, e mesmo que concomitante ao reconhecimento de filiação biológica, entretanto, de forma jurisprudencial. Cabe aos doutrinadores o estudo dos efeitos jurídicos desse reconhecimento. Objetivo: o objetivo é destacar a existência da estrutura familiar multiparental, bem como os efeitos jurídicos decorrentes de sua formação com enfoque nos institutos da pensão alimentícia e da herança, visto a necessidade de o sistema jurídico brasileiro acompanhar e tutelar as modificações sociais. Método: foi realizada uma pesquisa exploratória pelo método indutivo, visto que analisados casos concretos e, não somente, como também uma pesquisa bibliográfica doutrinária e análises jurisprudenciais. Resultado: toda a pesquisa resultou em uma análise do Recurso Extraordinário nº 898.060, marco teórico desta pesquisa, com oentendimento dos efeitos práticos do reconhecimento da multiparentalidade na realidade brasileira.
