| Resumo: | ABSTRACT: This article deals with the right to information and consent in the doctor-patient relationship, addressing the Free and Informed Consent Form, including a survey of the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories, however, it addresses the debate on protection of the patient's autonomy in the face of the medical duty to safeguard the life of those who are unable to express their will. In this case, the civil liability of the physician who, upon receiving a patient who attempted suicide, decides to act is questioned, going against the patient's initial will, which was to take his own life. In this way, we seek to verify the limit of the patient's autonomy of will and the civil liability of the health professional. For this purpose, doctrinal and legal studies and jurisprudence research in the TJDFT are used. As a result of research, it was found that the patient's autonomy is not and should not be so absolute, because it may be riddled with addiction or simply because, in a balance, the medical duty to save the life of those who help, prevails.
